What's so great about kangaroo leather?
Its strong
Kangaroo leather has been scientifically proven to be the strongest leather in the world for its weight.
To obtain a similar strength you'd need to get a cow hide leather probably up to three times as thick. It is known to be up to 10 times stronger than cowhide in the same weight, and 50 times stronger than some sheepskin.
Research found kangaroo leather has numerous advantageous qualities, including a tensile strength that exceeds that of any other domestic animal leather, a naturally fine grain, and a light weight. Differences in the fibre structure of a kangaroo's skin also means its leather is the strongest compared to others of equivalent thickness. The kangaroos are not farmed, so they live a long and prosperous life in the wild.
The same tannery we source our leather from manufactures and distributes for the likes of premium sporting goods (football boots, gloves, motorcycle racing suits, hiking boots etc).
"It's 10 times stronger than the average garment leather, so it's very unlikely to rip or scuff.
Its lightweight and soft
Kangaroo leather is the strongest and lightest natural leather available. This is because of the hide's structure which has highly uniform fibre bundles which are parallel to the skin's surface. This provides great tear and abrasion resistance.
Kangaroo leather is sustainable
Kangaroo leather is an ethically produced material, as well as sustainable to the local environment.
Harvesting of kangaroos contributes to the conservation of the species. They are harvested in accordance with the Dept of Environment and Heritage in Australia. The kangaroo population is a renewable, national resource and they are considered abundant and not endangered.
In fact, the leather is a recycled by product of the meat industry which would otherwise be wasted. This is a great use of our natural resource.
Tips on Care
You will receive many years of service from your boots if you regularly maintain them so we suggest using a leather conditioning cream or polish. Remove grime and dirt and if your boots get wet, allow to fully dry naturally between each use.
Get your heels and soles resoled before the rubber top is fully worn away
